Hi there, I’m Mirisen (she/her).
I’m a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist based in Oakland, CA. I offer virtual individual and couples therapy.
I support people who want to feel more at home in themselves and their relationships. My style is warm and interactive. I see therapy as a sacred process of exploring and tending to your inner world. Whether you are seeking individual or couples therapy, my hope is to offer a space where you can move toward deeper self-understanding, self-love, and fulfilling relationships.
My identities as a queer, cis woman of mixed-heritage (Middle Eastern and white) and a first-generation immigrant shape how I understand myself, others, and the messy, beautiful world we share. Therapy is more than a job to me. I genuinely enjoy what I do and find real meaning in supporting people as they follow what’s alive in them.

In individual therapy, I work with people who want to reconnect with their inner wisdom, live with greater intention and self-trust, and follow what brings them meaning and nourishment.
We will explore the patterns that shape your life, where they began, how they have served you, and what might be holding you back now. We’ll also work with the different parts of you, including the ones that step in to protect you, even when it means silencing yourself or staying small. We’ll care for the parts that carry unmet needs, grief, or the weight of what you’ve been through. And we’ll connect with the parts that dream of something more, holding your deepest hopes and longings.
In our work together, I’ll support you in reconnecting with your inner wisdom and building deeper trust in yourself and your relationships. As we do this work, we may also build a self-soothing toolbox to help you manage distress in a way that feels supportive.

Relationships can sometimes get caught in loops: having the same argument in different forms, feeling misunderstood or dismissed, or losing touch with the closeness you once shared. While the topics may change, the emotions underneath often remain the same. Over time, these patterns can feel automatic, leaving both partners feeling stuck.
In our work together, we will look beneath the surface of those patterns to understand the needs, fears, and longings that drive them. We will practice new ways of communicating that deepen trust and closeness. We’ll explore what connection means for you, strengthen habits that bring you closer, and navigate challenges with curiosity instead of frustration or withdrawal.

approach
Below, you’ll find a breakdown of the key approaches I use in therapy. Think of these as the building blocks of our work together.
Internal Family Systems: I help you connect with your internal system, your protectors, exiles, and core Self, with compassion. Every part has a story to tell, and none are inherently bad.
Attachment: Early relationships shape how we connect (or protect) in the present. By understanding your attachment patterns, we create space for new ways of being. Both with yourself and others.
Person-centered: You are the expert on your experience. My role is to walk with you as you explore your inner world and grow into a life that feels more like your own.

number of sliding scale spots are available to support clients experiencing financial hardship. These spots are designed to make therapy more accessible for those who might not otherwise afford it. Paying the full fee, if you are able, helps make this possible.
I do not accept insurance or work with insurance companies directly. However, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Coverage varies depending on your plan, so I recommend reaching out to your insurance provider to ask about out-of-network mental health benefits.
Payment: Credit, Debit, HSA, or FSA card only
Good Faith Estimate Notice
If you are paying out of pocket for therapy, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that explains the expected cost of your care.
Federal law requires providers to give clients who do not have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the total expected charges for non-emergency services.
You can request a Good Faith Estimate before starting services or at any time.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your estimate, you may dispute the charges.
For more information about your rights, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
